A shot from when London succumbed to the Snow (Feb 09). It may not seem like much but snow like this in London NEVER happens!

I really like the use of black and white to give contrast and also to show just how much snow there happens to be.

:snowing: I read a few comments below...
When I was a kid, snow was quite common in the winter, and often expected from December through January and sometimes February. With the change in climate and environment, or whatever factor, the seasons have shifted, and the weather is noticeably colder etc etc at least from January to Feb/March or even up to April if we are unlucky.
Central London is thought to be warmer due to the shelter from close proximity of city buildings and underground warmth, the roads being gritted/salted quicker, and hence snow melts quicker.
The above is just my opinion.

Contrary to others, I do remember days like this :snowing: in central london ...when I was a kid. ;) In this photo the snow is not that deep, but a lot of sludge though due to the gritting, the road traffic, and pedestrians.
An example of recent snow :snowing: in London would be Winter season 2007/2008 and again afterwards in the years ahead. I remember because the snow was half-way up to my knees. I got my shovel out and cleared a track for cars to grip on the side-road in front of my home to allow them to reach the main road which was gritted a bit.

:flaguk: This is a Lovely photo of The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben clock tower, and Westminster Bridge with the cold waters of The River Thames flowing below. Keeping the photo black and white and with the white cloudy sky the photo brings out the coldness of the weather.

:typerhappy: The photo brought back some memories. Thanks for that.

I appologise in advance for such a long comment. I know you are not looking for a critique. Sorry. Got carried away. :stupidme: I joined dA last night. I'm not very good at this commenting stuff in dA.
Please do delete this comment if you wish.
Thanks. Bye Bye.

This is a really great capture! I've been looking through all the london pictures and I think this is one of the ones that really captures a moment. A lot of the london pictures just capture big ben or the eye but this one has a little something extra that I just can't put my finger on, which is a good thing. Anyway, great shot!

Omg, what a disaster, snow happens in February! =D You know, I've been there in February 2007 and there were green grass and flowers, that was really shocking for me, because I'm from Moscow, we have cold winter.
